yes to VP

Several weeks ago I posted a diary-no to VP. I have changed my mind and I think Clinton should accept and run for the VP slot. I would love to see the media and the Washington establishment have a stroke. I think the media would go crazy trying to reconcile their Clinton hatred with Obama love. That alone would make it worthwhile.

No to VP, thanks very much, Troll.

by Lawyerish on Fri Jun 06, 2008 at 12:56:07 PM EST

how do you know that this commenter (2.00 / 3)

is a troll.  Surely it is not because they want Clinton to be VP?

One point (none / 0)

It's seriously stupid for Democrats who want to win the White House to be spreading the myth that the media is so in love with Obama.  It's called playing the refs, in the Republicans favor.

John McCain is the one who gets a free pass on huge gaffes like 'Sunni or Shia.'  He's the one who is a 'Maverick' deserving of admiration no matter how much of a toady he plays to Bush.

Meanwhile, bozos like this continue to push the line that the media is somehow 'in the tank' for Obama.  What that myth does is give the impression that if someone says something good about Obama, it's not because he did something good but because there is a bias.  It's the same thing as the 'liberal media' myth throughout the eighties and nineties that allowed the GOP to get away with all kinds of crap because they made it really hard for criticism to stick.

If this was my site, I would hammer the hell out of anyone repeating that stupid line.  It's like giving free votes to the GOP.

Either a troll or someone who needs to pull their head out.

That doesn't make a troll (2.00 / 4)

no matter how much you admire Obama, a great many Democrats do not have the same feelings for him.  Our ability to remain reflective and critical of those who lead this party is one of the biggest separations between us and the GOP.  You might disagree with the poster, but they are not a troll.

STFU should not be in a progressive Democrat's vocabulary.

Like I said (none / 0)

Either a troll or...

I don't care what this persons 'feelings' for Obama are.  The celebrity war between Clinton and Obama doesn't mean a hill of beans next to the very real policies we're fighting for - the issues that will effect millions of lives.

This site is about the democratic platform.  Advancing progressive causes.  Feeding into bs talking points that hurt the Democratic nominee should get criticized here no matter the 'feelings' of the person pushing the bs talking points.

Oh boy (none / 0)

bs talking points should be refuted, if your concern and purpose is truly what you claim it to be.  You did a fine job of substantiating your case- Laywerish did not.

Supporting Clinton for President or VP in no way makes someone a troll.

Calling someone a "troll" online (2.00 / 2)

has become the equivalent of a 6 year old calling you a doodie-head.
It's equally indicative of a limited vocabulary and a limited ability to express one's self.
John McCain says he would stay in Iraq for 100 years? That's crazy talk!

That would require an actual offer to be forthcoming.

to have such great knowledge of Obama's decision making process. Way up in the campaign.  Gee, that's cool.

Re: you must work on the Obama campaign (none / 0)

Nope. Obama has said: Not. Gonna. Happen.

He has stated that Bill Clinton would need to drop some of his outside interests and release his Library fundraising lists. Bill says no, so Obama says: Sorry.

you must think I am stupid (none / 0)

because you completely made that all up based on a vague line from team Obama about 'vetting' Hillary.

Re: you must think I am stupid (none / 0)

No, I completely made that up based on several statements made by the Obama team.  But, since you're not really listening to much of what the Obama team says, being as you're in the "Please please please, just pick Hillary for SOMETHING" camp, you'll not listen to what people are saying until a DIFFERENT VP is finally picked, keep your delusions of grandeur.

Have a nice day.

You don't really "run" for VP (none / 0)

Re: You don't really "run" for VP (none / 0)

Right, and the nominee usually picks a VP on the premise of "what he thinks would be 'fun'"

Re: yes to VP (none / 0)

The media would love it if Obama and Clinton ran together.  One of the strongest arguments against this ticket is that their relationship would become the new national soap opera.

I can't speak to this as a troll diary or not, but it fails in one spectacular way... This is not a diary... this is a comment.

So, delete and find some appropriate diary to post your comment in

No to dumb diaries.  Put this in an open thread (so that it may be troll rated accordingly).

Well... (none / 0)

On second thought, I wouldn't.  I'd likey just ignore it.  As a diary, it's on the trollish side but not so much as a comment.

Re: yes to VP (2.00 / 2)

Wow.  Isn't it cool that anyone who disagrees with the transcendent Obama supporters is now a troll?  I can't even begin to count all the trollish remarks in these comments about Clinton.  Apparently, you're a troll if you say anything critical about Barack Obama or any of his surrogates.  You're also a troll if you mention the possibility of a unity ticket.  Hmm.  I think I'm getting the rules now.

I want to offer a special word of thanks to the thought control police who keep us wrong-headed Clintonistas in our places.

"Isn't it cool that anyone who disagrees with the transcendent Obama supporters is now a troll?"

Dude, "rocky" thinks that the whole vice-presidency should be used in order to have a fun time seeing other people have a conniption.

He's basically arguing that Obama&Clinton should use the vice-presidency for the purpose that trolls use their posts -- not bothering with the essence of it, just use it to have fun aggravating other people.

This isn't just a troll -- this is a meta-troll. He's a troll that urges the Democratic ticket itself to be a troll by itself.

Re: yes to VP (none / 0)

So, a comment gets posted as a diary, claiming that the best thing about a "unity ticket" would be the confusion it would create in what the commenter considers a biased media.

As a comment alone, it has snark potential. But the underlying energy here is one that would apparently delight in seeing the "divided Democrats" meme played up in the media.

If it's not trollish, it's pretty lame and seems more inclined to generate trash-talking than to start a legitimate discussion.

What's interesting to me is how many leap in to defend it. There's just not much there to defend.

Re: yes to VP (2.00 / 1)

We're defending it because there's no rules against "lame" posts. And many of us lifelong Democrats are awfully tired of Obama supporters calling us trolls because we don't agree with his policy positions and don't march in lockstep with their newly anointed leader.

We're Democrats. We're going to disagree. That does not make us trolls. That makes us very typical Democrats.

Re: yes to VP (none / 0)

Hillary Clinton will be Vice President. By late this summer it will be apparent. Women voters have seen the future and I don't think they will be in the mood to wait for another woman to reach high office. Hillary as VP will be the price Obama has to pay for waging political warfare using sexism and Hillary hatred.

A second unexpected benefit is that the more Hillary campaigns on Obama's behalf, the more it will be clear what an outstanding candidate she is, and the more women will chaffe that she was not chosen. In addition, once the Republican's start muddying Obama up and Hillary comes to his defence, the higher her profile and fighting skills will be admired, even in his own camp.

Its quite ironic that as Hillary advances Obama's candidacy by campaigning for him, her own cause will be also advanced. By the late summer he will have no choice but to offer her VP.
